San Juan Huts provides low-impact, self-powered adventure experiences for skiers and mountain bikers. The ski system features five backcountry huts connecting Telluride, Ridgway, and Ouray in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, catering to skiers of varying skill levels, from intermediate to advanced. Adventurers can either access individual huts or undertake a hut-to-hut journey, with additional challenging terrain available above each hut.
For mountain bikers, San Juan Huts operates two 215-mile routes from Telluride or Durango, CO, to Moab, UT. These routes traverse from high alpine tundra to desert landscapes, offering a demanding yet manageable experience for intermediate riders. The huts are located about 35 miles apart, and riders must be self-sufficient, as vehicle support is not provided.
